When you're in the early stages of a relationship, everything is great.

You're still learning about your partner, experiences are new and fresh, and you're caught up in too much ~love~ to care about anything else in the world. But sometimes, if you fast-track through the early relationship stages, things in a relationship can feel stale real fast. But what's the benefit of taking things slow in a new relationship? And what do people actually mean when they say it?

According to Thomas Edwards Jr., founder of The Professional Wingman, taking it slow indicates a desire for the pace in which intimacy, connection, feelings, and commitments grow in a relationship to be one that feels comfortable." But, he says, the idea of taking it slow is subjective, and the reason for doing so can change from person to person. For some, its a way of protecting themselves from getting into something they may not want to be in, he says. For others, who would prefer to grow the relationship at a slower pace, its a real thing.

When you take the fast track with your SO, you may stop and realize you're not as head over heels as you thought you were. You might have been caught up in lust not love and found yourself all-in on a relationship that was destined for failure. Lori Salkin, SawYouAtSinai.com matchmaker and dating coach, says, Rushing or progressing to activities that are more appropriate for a more mature relationship before the proper foundation is laid can cause confusion, wariness, or even distrust.

While taking it slow could just be something people say when theyre not interested in a long-term commitment, there are other reasons why it might be beneficial to tap the brakes on a new relationship. A handful of people took to Reddit to reveal exactly what they mean when they tell someone they're dating they just want to "take things slow":

Some people can't connect with others if they jump right into bed with them.

I figured out a while ago that if I sleep with a girl too fast, I just never form the right kind of bond with her. I have to decide for sure I like her before making that connection.

This is a common reason for taking a relationship slow. Edwards says that in a situation like this, theres no rush some people have a preference of truly getting to know someone over a longer span of time before going all in.

Not diving headfirst into a relationship may turn it into something deeper.

One, remember people have different life experiences, so just because you haven't experienced anything to make you want to take things slow, doesn't mean other people haven't.

Sometimes, a relationship can be all about sex, and nothing else, and if you have had enough of empty relationships, you want something more meaningful.

I met a girl and I really liked her, but my previous relationship had escalated too quickly, gotten serious too quickly, and I realized that what I thought were real feelings were actually more like a short-term infatuation.

Jumping the gun means you may miss some red flags.

I've done this before. I didn't know her well, and she liked to dive into stuff...I prefer to ease in, because if I move too fast, I miss red flags.

My pace wasn't fast enough for her, so she lost interest. It's all good, though... we're still cool, and I've dated a few folks since.

Edwards says, Its important that [when] things are moving fast, be aware of the important conversations you have and make sure youre not only ready to have them, but also theyre appropriate for where you are in the progression of the relationship.

Sometimes you want to establish a friendship first, then move to a relationship.

I feel like adult relationships can go by really fast. Whether it is cultural, stuff we get from films, or what, I don't know, but too often it seems like people are jumping into the bed first thing.

A wise person once said, "I love the look of thick, full, and super long lashes, but the road to falsies is usually a sticky one." It was me; I said that. I had tried everything to figure out how to apply falsies without the mess or the glue residue that lingered on my lashes for days after. One strip is positioned under your natural lashes, and the other on top.

Although they're much more comfortable than they likely sound, the application process took some getting used to. The biggest issue I had with this method, was the lashes couldn't sit close enough to my lash line to look natural. They sort of floated away from my lid, a little less than midway through the ends of my lashes. However, the removal process was brilliant. You literally slide them off, no glue residue left behind.

Now, lash powerhouse Ardell went back to the drawing board in search of a solution that A) sat closer to the lash line and B) did so without the use of actual glue. And they came back with the Magnetic Liner and Lash duo. The set comes complete with a magnetic black gel liner and a single set of lashes, which boast the tiniest trio of magnets you've ever seen hidden at the base. The idea is you can apply the liner as you normally would, but once you're done, you'll already have something for your lashes to stick to. It basically cuts out a step and removes the pesky floating lash debacle.

Ready to give these lashes a go, I sat at my vanity, with my foundation done and my eye makeup on; the only step left was to apply my lashes. I cracked open the magnetic liner and saw that it looks like any other gel eyeliner pot. In an effort to get a super crisp cat eye, I ditched the included angled brush and swapped it for my favorite eyeliner brush. The formula felt really soft, and my brush sank right into it.

I brought the liner-covered brush up to my lash line and began applying, and I noticed that the formula skipped a bit it definitely didn't go on as smooth as I'd hoped. It got clumpy and started to look pretty messy, as you can see in the video below. I tried a few different eyeliner brushes, tried to apply more liner, then tried less liner, but nothing was giving me a crisp cat eye, so I went for plan B. I busted out a liquid eyeliner instead and get to work cleaning up my messy first attempt.

Now that I had a clean base to work with, I gave the Ardell magnetic liner a second chance. I applied it over my eyeliner somewhat like a glue, I guess and waited before applying a second coat, as directed on the box. After the second coat (while it was still wet), I waved the lashes over my lash line, and they instantly fused to the liner. You could color me pretty impressed, because there was no glue residue stuck on my lashes, there weren't any sticky fingerprints on all my stuff, and I was still rocking a full flutter.

Next, to really put the magnetic power of this eyeliner to the test, I waved a second lash strip over my lash line, and that one stuck on top of the first. I was wearing two lash strips on one eye, and the base looked completely natural. There weren't any thick, clumpy spots and my bottom lashes didn't stick to the top. (Ugh, you know how that happens every time?)

The best part is, if you're not a pro at positioning lashes correctly on the first try, you're not doomed to wear a crooked strip of falsies all night. Because the lashes stick to magnets, rather than a sticky glue that dries on you, you can reposition them as many times as you need. Trust me. My left eye is always the hardest for me, and I was able to fumble around with the lash strip without messing up my eye makeup.

Finally, I'll say that this magnetic liner is bulletproof. (OK, it's technically just waterproof, but that's great, too!) I rubbed at a swatch on my hand furiously, and it didn't move or smudge. Of course, this means you'll need an oil-based remover to get it off, but the good news is, your lashes are there to stay. Overall, I'd say going back to the drawing board for a brand-new magnetic lash product worked in Ardell's favor.

Some of the best groups from this decade have been formed through reality competition shows. It's amazing to look back at the groups during their humble beginnings on television, especially knowing that just one small decision could have changed the entire outcome. I mean, could you imagine if one member backed out or never auditioned in the first place? I shiver just thinking about it. In 2015, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu competed on the Korean reality show Sixteen. Obviously, they all came out on top and formed TWICE, and the rest is history. Since it's been four years since each of the members debuted, their looks have definitely changed over time. TWICE'S Jeongyeon's hair evolution is especially mesmerizing, because each of her styles have been exceptionally beautiful.

Whether her hair is short or long, black or blue, straight or curled, Jeongyeon is able to pull of any and all styles. TWICE's fans known as ONCE look up to Jeongyeon for hair inspiration and once you look through her different hair changes throughout the years, you'll understand why. Some people might head to the Disney parks for the rides, some may go for the characters, and I go mostly for the food. At this point, a ton of people that know that although apple cider vinegar has an acquired taste, the health benefits are way too good to pass up. Theres no question that taking a shot of the stuff is going to do your body a whole lot of good, but there's one big dilemma that remains: Whens the best time to throw it back? A lot of wellness bloggers suggest sipping it down before breakfast on an empty stomach, but drinking apple cider vinegar before bed is also a good idea. We've all been there. I've definitely been there.

My alarm goes off, my eyes shoot open, and I shift to my side to see who's sleeping next to me. It's my significant other, the person I've been head over heels in love with for a year now. All is right in the world, right? Not exactly, because I just woke up from another dream about someone I used to date. But Im completely over this previous partner, so why do I dream about my ex at all?

What kind of message is the universe trying to send me when I dream about a former flame? Is it because however blissfully happy I think I am, I'm secretly pining for this other person? After interviewing some sleep experts on the topic, I'm happy to report the answer isnt an automatic yes.

If youre like me a person who dreams about their ex, even though they dont have any lingering feelings for them here's what's actually going on:

1. You're craving closure.

Dr. Michael Breus, a clinical psychologist, board-certified in sleep medicine, tells me that dreaming about your ex is a natural response to a breakup that did not allow one person (in this case, the dreamer) to express their feelings at the end of the relationship to their satisfaction, or in some cases, at all.

Terry Cralle, a registered nurse and sleep expert with the Better Sleep Council, agrees that unconscious thoughts about your ex could be related to the need for closure, and may even provide some level of emotional resolution. After all, Stressful situations and experiences that occur during our waking hours are well-represented in our dreams.

2. You want your current relationship to work out.

If you're in a new relationship, you may be dreaming about your ex more than usual. Don't be alarmed this isn't a red flag.

Since the previous [relationship] did not work out, your unconscious may be reviewing this old relationship to make sure you are not doing the things that may have caused the relationship to fail, says Breus.

Breus adds that there may also be some anxiety surrounding your new romance, since your last one did not work out. That anxiety can be expressed in your dreams as well.

3. You're looking for more love in your life.

It's only natural you'd want to revisit happy time periods and relationships once in a while, so if you find yourself dreaming about a love from long ago a high school sweetheart, for example it doesn't mean you're still thinking about your 17-year-old SO in a romantic sense.

Breus says, Depending upon how good your previous relationship was, if you have nothing going on in your current love life, this is an easy time to start thinking about when you were last in a relationship.

He adds, Also, if youre feeling lonely, again, from an unconscious perspective, dreams are where this loneliness can play out, and a positive previous person in your life is likely to be called upon by your unconscious to help.

Even if youre having dreams of a more intimate, sexual experience with your old boo, that still doesnt necessarily indicate sexual attraction to them (although it could). Sex therapist Dr. Stefani Threadgill previously told Elite Daily, "It could also mean that you have some untapped desires or fantasies that you might want to discuss or explore with someone else.

If dreaming about your ex is a frequent occurrence, Cralle advises keeping a dream journal so you can remember, keep track of, and analyze the content on a deeper level. Every situation is different for each individual person.

John Green novels are famous for hitting you in the feels while telling unique yet somehow also relatable coming-of-age stories. With the prolific author's reputation, as well as the success of the film adaptations of his novels The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns, fans have had high expectations for the new Hulu series Looking For Alaska. Luckily, the show, which is based on Green's first published YA novel of the same name, is living up to the hype. In fact, fans are so into the adaptation, many are asking: Will there be a Looking For Alaska Season 2? Unfortunately, it's not looking super promising, but it never hurts to hold out a little hope.

First, let's face the facts: The eight-episode season tells the entire story of Green's novel, and presumably because of this, Hulu has billed Looking For Alaska as a limited series. Plus, in a 2018 Reddit post, Green confirmed a Season 2 is probably not in the cards. "I would not be super-interested in participating [in a second season]. (I also think it's very unlikely)," he wrote.

However, the second part of his post brings a glimmer of hope, even if it's tinged with a hefty dose of sarcasm: "But one shouldn't say never. Who knows. Maybe Season 2 would be the story of Pudge joining a ninth tier English soccer team called AFC Wimbledon that's just beginning to work their way up through the leagues in what will within nine years be the greatest comeback story in the history of sports."

Considering Miles' general lack of coordination, Green's prediction doesn't seem very likely. But those comments aside, recent history shows that just because a series has used up all of its source material, it doesn't mean it can't continue on with a new story. I mean, some of the most popular streaming shows these days were originally based on books before taking on original plot lines, including HBO's Big Little Lies (book by Liane Moriarty), Netflix's 13 Reasons Why (book by Jay Asher), and Hulu's own The Handmaid's Tale (book by Margaret Atwood).

But even if the powers that be behind Looking For Alaska do decide to continue telling this story, a second season could still be a long way off. Considering the Hulu series premiered a full 14 years after the book was published, I wouldn't be surprised if Green and producers took their sweet time discussing what (if anything) to do in the future.

For now, it's best to just bask in the angsty, nostalgic, and emotional glory that is Looking For Alaska, and maybe even start thinking about which novel of Green's you'd like to see on the big or small screen next.

If I could give Meryl Streep 100 Oscars, I would. If I could give my favorite coworker a significant raise, I also would. And if I could give these highly-rated products on Amazon six stars, well... Its important to note the definition of success may vary for each individual. That being said, here are 13 principles that may help you accomplish the goals you are striving for.

1. Be committed.

Even the most prepared-for journey can have unexpected twists and turns. Edwards explains being totally committed is a key ingredient to reaching your final destination, regardless of hitting any bumps in the road.

Joshua Klapow, Ph.D., clinical psychologist and host of The Kurre and Klapow Show further explains, Celebrate the wins, but understand they are not the endpoint. You [can] pick up after the losses, recognizing that they are not the ends of your dreams. Klapow also suggests taking the slow and steady route. Your personal journey to success isnt a race.

2. Do exactly what makes you love yourself.

Edwards stresses, Do what makes you love yourself. Its always really important to fill your life with doing things that make you happy with who you are. Klapow notes if you dont have a passion for what youre doing, its easy to get tired of your situation quickly. If you do what makes you love yourself, you may feel more balanced and in sync.

3. Set an attainable routine.

People set goals, have dreams, and want different things in life, but they may not achieve them because they don't actually start working toward them. Never put things off until tomorrow. Start today by setting an easy, attainable routine. Edwards says, Take any action, collect feedback. Course correct, repeat.

4. Move in the right direction.

You may find yourself wondering, How can I tell if Im moving in the right direction to reach my goals? Klapow says going in the right direction means you feel completely in line with your thoughts, emotions, and actions. It means what youre thinking, how youre feeling, and what youre doing should work harmoniously. Klapow also explains the direction youre going should feel right. Different changes in life can happen, and you may need to reevaluate your course.

5. Use the power of dreams and your imagination.

Edwards says, You are still a kid with wild dreams and a powerful imagination, so have fun. What you dream for yourself is what you can make happen in your life.

Klapow adds, Life has rules and structure; imagination doesnt. By combining dreams of success and the broadest use of our imagination, we can tap into a motivational reservoir. Dont get too caught up in dreaming and imagining without achieving, though.

6. Think bigger than you are.

Edwards suggests, Always think bigger. Its important to keep in mind that unexpected curveballs can come your way, and although many things can be possible if you put your mind to them, things might not go according to plan. The key is establishing a happy medium when it comes to your mindset. Klapow advises, Dream and think big, but have a healthy dose of reality to counterbalance that.

7. Focus on growth.

Success is a problem-solving, solution-driven situation, and thats where growth comes from. Klapow points out that circumstances can change as you move through life. Things dont always go as expected, but you learn and grow along the way. Face it: Even when youre going through a bad time, you may work it out, take away a valuable lesson, and grow that much stronger in the process.

8. Be determined.

Where theres a will, theres some sort of a way even if you have to create one. [Have] persistence in action, determination toward the outcome, and resilience to overcome, Edwards suggests. According to Klapow, even if there are obstacles or your journey isnt going at the pace youd like it to go, youre still persevering toward your goals: Its not just about thinking hard, feeling dedicated, [and] putting your mind to things. Its about engaging in the millions of actions that are usually required to succeed.

9. Have a clear vision in mind.

Success is about having vision. Vision will allow you to aim where you need to go. Your vision should be the blueprint for what you are going to actually do to [achieve] success, Klapow says. He stresses that clarity is everything.

10. Set goals along the way.

A final goal means setting the big picture and seeing your finished canvas. Your goals along the way are the paint you use to get there. Edwards suggests creating checkpoints to ensure you stay on the right path. This way, you can adjust if you ever end up going off course. Klapow says these goals can be broken down into three categories: easily attainable short-term goals, mid-term goals that require you to be determined, and long-term goals that rely on both your short-term and mid-term goals. Short-term goals are the motivational fuel that allows us to stay in the game to reach long-term goals, he says.

11. Use affirmations to keep motivated.

Affirmations are what will motivate you along your journey. With affirmations, you are defining your own reality. Klapow suggests theres a lot of power in consistently telling yourself encouraging things like, Ive got this, I can do this, and I want this. Youre creating a positive dialogue with yourself, and this positive energy may eventually manifest into reality. Edwards adds, No matter what, always tell yourself, [I] can."

12. Surround yourself with people who genuinely support you.

Negative influences and negative people can stand in your way. On your road to success, try your best to steer clear of toxic energy. According to Edwards, Youre only as powerful as the people who support you. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and are excited about your dreams.

Klapow points out you can tell if a friend or loved one is genuinely supportive if they care about you and not solely your vision for success. People who are enamored with your vision for themselves only, for their future only, and not for the joy it also brings you are short-term supporters at best, he says.

13. Appreciate everything you already have in your life.

The final principle for success is to appreciate what you have already. Realize that you already have enough, and be grateful for what your future beholds. Klapow emphasizes how crucial gratitude is. He says, Being appreciative and grateful for what you have keeps you grounded, allows you to elicit joy in the moment, and helps to keep you optimistic. The more you can be appreciative for what you have, the more you will operate out of passion to expand vs. fear of not having enough.

"I was learning things about my ex most people wouldn't have to face and over the internet, as it was happening. There I was, on a plane, alone, finding out about his new relationship. I was blindsided."

Shortly after the pair publicly split in April 2018, Tatum and Jessie J went public in October of 2018 with their relationship. Seeing your ex move on so quickly after such a long relationship would surely sting for anybody, and even more so in the public eye. Sounds pretty awful.

But Dewan found love just a little while after Tatum, with Us Weekly confirming Dewan's relationship with actor Steve Kazee on Oct. 30, 2018.

"Do you know how many times I've wanted to go online and write exactly what's on my mind? Thousands. My instinct is to fight back, set the record straight." But she chose instead to go the graceful route, and TBH, many of us could learn so much from this. Dewan goes on to say it was "quite a challenge to remain graceful to say the least," but she was also mature in her thinking process, stopping herself based on what she "would want [herself] to live with a week from today" and what she'd "want Everly to read when she's older."

Her book sounds like such an inspirational read. Dewan managed to take the high road, but she's doing it in a way that is still brutally honest about her relationship with Tatum. And through the struggles, there is great news for Dewan. She has been able to move on and become stronger for what she went through, and now she's releasing a book from Simon and Schuster and expecting another baby with Kazee.
