Kim Kardashian’s New Year’s Eve 2020 Was All About Family Time

Say what you will about the Kardashian-Jenner clan, but there's no denying these sisters always prioritize family time. Kim Kardashian's New Year's Eve 2020 was spent in Wyoming with her sweet family of six, where she, Kanye West, and the kids hit the slopes. While not all the kiddies were suited up (I mean, Psalm is not even eight months old, so we can't really expect much from him), Kim shared some pics on social media of her two oldest, North and Saint, as she showed them the ropes. She also posted a boomerang of the snowy weather, which she captioned, "Perfect New Years in Wyoming."

During a September 2019 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Kim revealed it was Kayne's dream to relocate to the secluded state. "We love Wyoming. It's always been such an amazing place," she said. "My husband did just buy a ranch there, and his dream and his vision is to move there." And though Kim also expressed love for the Cowboy State, she didn't seem quite as ready to leave sunny Calabasas. "I love LA, so I envision summers, I envision some weekends," she added. "But yeah, we love it. It's like, the prettiest place you've seen in your entire life."

That wasn't the only time Kim alluded to the family's possible relocation. In the September issue of Vogue Arabia, the mogul and mama of four shared her and Kayne's 10-year plan. "I see us living on a ranch in Wyoming, occasionally going to Palm Springs and our home in Los Angeles," she explained. However, if it was up to Kanye, it seems like he and his brood would have moved full-time to Colorado, like, yesterday. According to People, Kanye didn't just buy a massive ranch in Cody, Wyoming he's also been checking out local elementary schools.

If you're worried about what this means for Kim's relationships with her sisters and mom, don't be. It appears as though the rest of the fam is just as charmed by Wyoming as Kim and Kanye. During her appearance on The Tonight Show, Kim mentioned, "Even my sisters, everyone, we've had this dream of getting a ranch and just spending our summers there and getting away." The season 17 finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians even saw the whole family take a much-needed trip together to Jackson Hole.

It's unclear when or if Kim and Kayne will relocate to Cody for good, but it's obvious the family enjoys the quality time they get to spend together there. Hey Kimye, how about you guys extend me an invite next time?

BTS’ New Year’s Eve 2020 Performance Totally Stole The Show

New Year's Eve is one of the few holidays recognized around the world. And among those that celebrate New Year's Eve on Dec. 31, no party is bigger than the one in New York City's Times Square, with New Year's Rockin' Eve. The world's biggest party needs the world's biggest musical act, which is why BTS' New Year's Eve 2020 performance was one of the most hotly anticipated performances of the evening.

The seven-member squad Jimin, Jin, RM, Suga, Jungkook, J Hope, and V took the entire space by storm to the screams of their fans, known as the BTS ARMY. Unlike some acts, who stuck to the central stage set up in the center of the crowd, BTS' performance ranged all over. The boys started on Times Square's famous LED festooned "Red Steps," before heading out along the cordoned-off streets of New York, where they greeted and sang to the assembled crowd. The back half of the performance started with them finally taking the stage.

The group sang multiple hits during their extended set, starting with this year's "Make It Right" from their Map of the Soul: Persona album, and ending with the highly choreographed "Boy With Luv."

Check out the video:

Stephanie Vee on YouTube

New Year's Rockin' Eve held BTS until almost the last possible moment. The show traditionally starts at 9 p.m. ET, with a 30-minute break off-air from 11 to 11:30 p.m. for the local news. BTS was the final act of the 9-11 p.m. portion of the show, going on just after 10:40 p.m.

Even so, the band was trending long before the boys finally took the stage, with ARMY members hyping the upcoming performance. Once they took the stage, the screams were deafening enough to be heard on other networks airing live from Times Square who weren't showing the performance.

This is BTS' second time performing as part of New Year's Rockin' Eve. For New Years 2019, they performed "Mic Drop" and "DNA," but as part of a pre-taped package, not live in Times Square.

But the boys' performance wasn't the only spot they got in the New Year's Celebration. As the clock rounded to midnight, the whole group joined Ryan Seacrest on stage along with Post Malone and other stars to witness the ball drop live on TV.

After the ball drop finished, Seacrest asked RM what it meant to them to be in New York City to witness the Times Square celebration live. His response was great:

This is the thing: We've been watching [the ball drop] since [we were] six, in the movie Home Alone. We cannot still believe it. We have Christmas trees, family & friends, eating together.

Fans expect BTS' next album to arrive in early 2020, with hints of a tour to follow the album's release in the spring.

What Are The Original Team 10 Members Doing In 2020? They're All So Successful

If living in a massive house with all your besties sounds like a dream, well, it can definitely be done. But at what cost? Just look at Team 10, the collective of superstar internet celebs assembled by Jake Paul in 2017. The group, comprised of seven of the hottest YouTubers and bloggers in existence at the time, seemingly had non-stop fun and were always up to something new and exciting when they lived in the Team 10 mansion. However, living and working together proved to be challenging, and all but one of the original Team 10 members have left the group in 2019. Here's the ultimate update on what the original Team 10 members are doing in 2019.

While they all had their own reasons for leaving, each of the OG members of Team 10 have continued to flourish. The original Team 10 members included Alissa Violet, Neels Visser, The Dobre Twins, AJ Mitchell, and Alex Lange. Oh, and of course, Jake Paul himself. However, the original squad has almost entirely moved on to other endeavors. Seriously, if you were a fan of the OG Team 10 members, you may not even recognize the new crew.

Whether you've kept up with the new Team 10 crew or not, here's what you should know about the original members.

Jake Paul

Jake Paul is still the Team 10 ring leader, but his biggest headline-making stunt in 2019 was undoubtedly his marriage to Tana Mongeau.

The couple got engaged on Tana's 21st birthday and married in a $500,000 ceremony in July 2019. But they made headlines once again when news broke that their marriage wasn't technically legal.

AJ Mitchell

Even before Team 10, AJ Mitchell had a successful singing career. After all, it was his YouTube cover videos that caught Paul's eye in the first place. Though the singer announced his departure from Team 10 in June 2017, his success has not slowed down.

In an interview with Metro, he explained his reason for leaving. I went out there, ended up realizing it wasnt what I wanted to do. They were doing parody videos, they wanted me to sing and do comedy stuff, and thats not where I was at and not where I wanted to be at. I knew if I started going down that path, people wouldnt take me seriously and that kind of worried me," he said.

It looks like Mitchell has been hard at work on his recording career. His latest single, "Unstoppable," arrived on Nov. 22 and was a bop, as was his September 2019 collab track, "Slow Dance," with Ava Max.

AJMitchellVEVO on YouTube

Alex Lange

There was no bad blood when Lange left Team 10 in December 2017. In fact, he shared a sweet message about how tough the decision was on him.

Team 10 has been my family for the past two and a half years of my life, and I saw it grow into what it is today. So, as you guys could probably tell, this wasnt really an easy decision to make. But after talking it through with the Team 10 family and others close to me, we all decided that it was the best next step for everyone," he explained in a YouTube video, which has since been deleted.

Lange left Team 10 to focus on acting and he's been doing exactly that. Fans with Hulu can currently watch him in The Unsettling, a horror series about a 16-year-old girl that begins having strange experiences in her new foster home.

The Dobre Twins

Dynamic dancing duo and brothers, Lucas and Marcus, aka, The Dobre Twins, left Team 10 on a high note. Their reason for leaving around June 2017 was simply that they were homesick.

There have been some rumors going around and people think the reason why we left LA was because we were jealous of others, we were mad, we werent getting along with others, that we were even intimidated by others. But thats completely false, they said in a joint YouTube video. We did not hurt anyones feelings or disrespect anyone. Marcus and I are not angry at anyone or have any hard feelings towards anyone That was the best decision emotionally, creatively, and mentally.

The Dobre Twins explain their reasoning for leaving Team 10 around the 1:30 mark below.

ASRAPG on YouTube

The Dobre Twins are still bringing their dance moves, signature backflips, and endless pranks to stages together in 2019. While they recently made headlines for a less than energetic fan meet and greet, they've since apologized.

Neels Visser

Visser decided to relocate to New York to pursue a career in modeling in early 2017, seemingly out of the blue, leaving fans with a lot of questions. Since then, Visser has laid relatively low.

A scroll through Visser's Instagram page shows plenty of picturesque trips, fun nights out, and fast cars. Even out of the Team 10 spotlight, the thrills haven't stopped for Visser.

Alissa Violet

There's a lot to unpack when it comes to Violet's exit from Team 10. It's not exactly a surprise that she wound up leaving the collective, seeing as she and Paul's highly-publicized romance ended with a highly-publicized breakup.

All seemed fine between the couple, until Violet uploaded a video to Snapchat of all of her stuff packed up, and claimed Paul had kicked her out.

Things got messier when Jake later accused Alissa of cheating on him with Logan Paul, his brother.

Violet then slammed Paul's claims and denied they ever dated.

In June 2017, Violet got more honest than ever. In a video shared to her YouTube account, she gave a detailed, raw account of her time as a Team 10 member from beginning to end, including the intense rules in her contract with Team 10.

Alissa Violet on YouTube

The raw revelation of her caustic relationship with Paul made fans wonder whether the rest of the Team 10 clan really left for the innocuous reasons they claimed, or if there was more to their stories, too.

Despite the bad blood between Violet and Paul, she's still thriving these days. Most recently, she pulled up for a guest spot on Machine Gun Kelly's new song, "Why Are You Here," in which she sang backing vocals for the chorus.

MGKVEVO on YouTube

She's also amassed more than 9.1 million followers on Instagram who watch her every move. When it comes to internet celebs, few do it better than Violet.

Whether living in the Team 10 house ended amicably or not for its various original members, the one thing that's for sure is the collective proved to be the ultimate launchpad for their successful careers.

Chrissy Teigen’s New Year’s Eve 2020 Instagram Is Hilariously Relatable

New Year's Eve gets a lot of hype for being one of the biggest party nights of the year, but the truth is a lot of that hype is severely overrated. Even celebrities know that often the best holidays are spent at home. Chrissy Teigen's New Year's Eve 2020 Instagram is all the validation you need if your favorite nights are spent in.

Teigen's Instagram is one of the most active places on the internet, so it wouldn't be a holiday without a proper update from her. She posts everything online, from her glitziest red carpet events to the least glamorous, mundane moments at home. Her NYE Instagram falls into the latter category. Teigen shared a photo of herself wearing the (dare I say, iconic?) ensemble of a towel and a New Year's tiara. The dour expression on her face says it all, but her caption elaborates further: "sinus drugs got me f*cked uppppp. 1 hour til countdown but Im out love u guys!!"

Is there anything more relatable than the impulse to go to bed before midnight on New Year's Eve? I think not. With or without sinus troubles like Teigen's, braving the drunk crowds is usually not nearly as rewarding as getting a good night's sleep in your cozy bed. Kudos, Chrissy.

That wasn't Teigen's only Instagram of the evening. Earlier in the night, she posted a photo of her blowing her nose and told fans, "I am not feeling great but happy new year yayyyyy." So, her Instagram announcing her early bedtime was actually an update on her previous post. You have to appreciate how Teigen always keeps her fans involved.

Teigen also posted a throwback video of New Year's Eve 2019, when she got hit in the face with an umbrella. The video is just as funny as it sounds, especially paired with Teigen's caption about her New Year's Eve spent in. She posted the video and wrote: "still better than last new years." Honestly, probably anything is better than getting poked with an umbrella, especially a New Year's Eve spent in with an early bedtime. Thanks for the inspiration, Chrissy.

Where Can You Stream ‘Friends’ In 2020? It Is Going To Be Hard To Find For A While

I know the new year is all about letting go of the past and moving forward, but I resolve to be bitter about Friends leaving Netflix for at least another five months. Rachel, Monica, Ross, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe officially departed the streaming service on Dec. 31, 2019, and fans are wondering what the heck they're supposed to mindlessly watch before bed every night now that the beloved NBC sitcom is gone. Though Friends will be on HBO Max when it officially launches in May, you may not be able to stream Friends in 2020 until then, so it's pretty much a moo point.

Considering that all 10 seasons and 236 episodes of Friends have been available on Netflix since Jan. 1, 2015, it's not easy to say goodbye. When WarnerMedia announced over the summer that Friends would move to its forthcoming streaming service, Netflix responded with a sad tweet, saying "The One Where We Have To Say Goodbye. We're sorry to see Friends go to Warner's streaming service at the beginning of 2020 (in The US). Thanks for the memories, gang." Now fans are taking to Twitter to share their discontent while they wait out those five long months until May.

And The One Who Just Had Way Too Many Feelings

It's not all bad news, guys. Even though the series won't be available to stream until the spring, Amazon Prime and iTunes allows you to rent or buy episodes, and there's no better time than now to invest in the 25th anniversary DVD set. Friends reruns are also still a staple of TV channels like NBC, TBS, and Nick at Nite, so if you have cable, you can keep hanging out with your fave NYC residents every night of the week.

As well as being the new home of the sitcom, HBO Max is reportedly working on a Friends reunion with the show's six main cast members and creators, and I couldn't be more excited. Not many details about the unscripted special have been released yet, but I do know this: I'm subscribing to HBO Max ASAP.

The 'WandaVision' Premiere Date Is Sooner Than Expected & Here’s What That Means For Marvel

As the new decade begins, a rapid tectonic shift is taking place in the entertainment landscape. Both Apple TV+ and Disney+ launched standalone streaming services, with NBC and HBO following in the months ahead. All four small-screen powerhouses know the key to getting consumers to sign up is content, which is why "What's Coming in 2020" promo videos are critical. But the Disney+ video announcement held a surprise for fans, with the reveal that the WandaVision premiere date would be far earlier than anyone had guessed.

Most of Disney+ offerings for the new year are either known to fans already or easily guessed. The YouTube video starts out hyping last July's hit, The Lion King, which will join the other live-action remake movies along with the Will Smith-led Aladdin. Pixar will premiere Toy Story 4, along with a Bo-Peep-centered tale, Lamp Life, following the adventures of Bo and her sheep after they left Andy's house.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series were already greenlit before the service launched, so it's not a surprise to see them promoted as part of the upcoming highlight reel. Nor is it a surprise to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be making its way to Disney+ since The Mandalorian ties directly back to the animated series with the Darksaber.

But then there's the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which pops up at the 36-second mark.

Disney on YouTube

Disney+ hypes two series: The Falcon & The Winter Soldier and WandaVision. The former was always expected to arrive in 2020, airing between Black Widow's May release and The Eternals' November premiere. But WandaVision wasn't slated for 2020. It was slated to air after Shang-Chi & The Legend of the Ten Rings' release in February of 2021, sometime in the spring.

This might not seem like a big deal; Marvel was probably hedging in how long filming would take. If production is going more smoothly than anticipated and the show is ready for a late fall or holiday-timed debut for 2020, why not go with it?

But these Marvel shows are supposed to be parts of Phase IV, tying directly into what happens on the big screen. MCU president Kevin Feige specifically singled out WandaVision as a significant part of this experiment, calling it a direct prequel to the big-screen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in May of 2021.

In short, whatever Wanda accidentally releases in her moving of time and space live out a life with Vision causes Doctor Strange's adventures in the multiverses. That may still work with releasing WandaVision in 2020 instead. But any time something in Marvel's giant interconnected puzzle moves, it affects everything.

If nothing else, this may mean moving up some of the other Marvel TV series premiering down the line. Maybe multiverses of madness aren't the only chaos on Marvel's upcoming menu.

Post Malone's New Face Tattoo For 2020 Is His Biggest One Yet

$

There's no better way to start the New Year than with a fresh face tat. OK, maybe that's only true if you're Post Malone. On New Year's Eve 2019, Posty performed during Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest for the second year in a row, and the singer revealed the latest addition to his ink collection. If you haven't seen it yet, Post Malone's new face tattoo for 2020 features a medieval gauntlet holding a flail, and it's, um... unique. Before his performance, the singer gave fans a sneak preview on Instagram with a mirror selfie, which he captioned, "have a good ass new year."

Tattoo artist Kyle Hediger also shared a close-up of the piece on Instagram, captioning it, "Last tattoo of 2019. Gauntlet on the baby boy @postmalone. Love you. 2020 is going to be next level." When asked about the ink by TMZ, Posty admitted the tat was a painful one, but he'd been considering it for a while and finally decided to go for it. "It's like a gauntlet and a flail," he explained. "It's like a big spiked ball on a chain. It's pretty brutal." But that brutal new ink didn't stop him from rockin' on stage as the ball dropped.

Since coming on the scene in 2015, Post Malone has collected dozens of new tattoos, but he was once pretty nervous about getting inked. In fact, if you can believe it (or, should I say, Beliebe it), Justin Bieber inspired Posty to get his very first tattoo. During a 2018 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the singer admitted that he chose to get his first tattoo a Playboy bunny in order to prove his daredevilry to J Biebs. "We were working on Stoney," he explained, "and then we had a tattoo artist come through, and I was like, 'You know what? Justin Bieber's got some tats, and I love you, but I know I'm way tougher than you.'"

When Posty took the stage in Times Square on New Year's Eve, clad in a snazzy purple suit, he gave a shoutout to the crowd, saying, "I dare you to do something" big in 2020. He's certainly done something big or, rather, gotten something big already this year, but knowing Post Malone, this is just the first of many big moves for him in 2020.

The ‘Harry Potter’ Connection In ‘Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’ Is Blowing Fans’ Minds

$

0

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was about ending a nine-film arc. Three trilogies, spanning four decades, all brought to a conclusion in one movie. And yet, it also was a standalone installment, filled with brand new locations, characters, and stories. The most significant addition gave viewers a look into Poe Dameron's past as a spice-runner and a trip to the snow-dusted planet of Kijimi, where fans met Zorii and Babu Frik. But this Harry Potter connection in Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker was one of the most surprising parts about it.

The delight in using Jim Henson's Creature Shop puppets for the Star Wars space aliens doesn't just come from the long history between the Muppets and a galaxy far, far away. It's also a way to throw in cameo appearances from actors who would otherwise be ultra recognizable. For instance, Simon Pegg, well-known for his comedy movies as well as his role as Scotty in Star Trek, was the one under all that fabric, rubber, and wire that made up Unkar Plutt. D-0, the new droid in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, is voiced by director J.J. Abrams.

But in the film's sneakiest cameo, Babu Frik is voiced by actress Shirley Henderson. For Harry Potter fans, she's the famous bathroom-haunting character, Moaning Myrtle.

It's not surprising that most fans probably didn't put two and two together about Frik and Moaning Myrtle. Even though Kijimi is a crucial plot point, and Frik's work in hacking C-3PO is necessary for Rey to translate the dagger, the scenes are rather short. Moreover, Kijimi is the sixth planet fans see in the first 45 minutes of the film. Getting overloaded and missing a familiar voice is unsurprising.

But Henderson isn't the only Harry Potter actor or actress to move to the storied Star Wars franchise. The final Potter film came out in 2011, and Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012 with the intention to make Episodes 7-9. For many of these British-based actors, the timing to go from one to the other was perfect.

Domhnall Gleeson, for instance, played Bill Weasley in Harry Potter and General Hux in all three Star Wars sequel films. Warwick Davis, who had been in the first Star Wars trilogy as the lead Ewok, Wicket, did the Harry Potter movies as both Professor Flitwick and Griphook. Then he went back to the Star Wars franchise where's he's played different characters in all five films to hit the big screen in the last decade. And most recently, Natalia Tena went from playing Tonks in Harry Potter to Osha in Game of Thrones and now Xi'an in The Mandalorian.

Henderson's in good company in the multi-franchise player game. The only question fans should be asking is where she'll turn up next.

The ‘A Quiet Place: Part 2’ Trailer Shows The Day The Monsters First Attacked

Don't move, pay attention, and most importantly don't make a sound. The A Quiet Place: Part 2 trailer is out and it looks like the sequel might be even more intense than the first movie, if that's possible. It picks up right where the last one left off: with the Abbott family narrowly avoiding death by sound-hunting monsters. But, this time, audiences also get to see the day the monsters first attacked, which is honestly terrifying.

At the end of the first Quiet Place movie, Evelyn Abbott (Emily Blunt) and her children Regan (Millicent Simmonds), Marcus (Noah Jupe), and a newborn baby were left to face an uncertain future. They'd just defeated the vicious monsters in part thanks to patriarch Lee's (John Krasinski) sacrifice of his life and in part thanks to the discovery that a certain frequency on Regan's hearing aid rendered the sensitive ears of the monsters useless. It was enough to offer a satisfying conclusion to the first movie, but there are more obstacles ahead for the Abbott family in A Quiet Place: Part 2. The acutely-hearing monsters are still at large, plus there are now other humans around who may or may not bring an added danger.

Paramount Pictures on YouTube

The trailer begins with a terrifying look at the very first day the monsters dropped into the Abbotts' sleepy small town. It's clear that right from the start, Evelyn was a strong mama bear protecting her children. It's a good thing she's held onto that ferocity, because it looks like she'll need it as she guides her family into the rest of the world. A Quiet Place: Part 2 will show the Abbotts meeting other survivors, including characters played by Peaky Blinders' Cillian Murphy and Shazam!'s Djimon Hounsou. But, the survivors out there might not be people the Abbotts want to meet. In fact, Murphy's character whispers in the trailer, "The people that are left are not the kind of people worth saving."

Krasinski wrote and directed the first movie and he returns to helm the sequel. He explained his vision for A Quiet Place: Part 2 to Collider, saying, "We have the world. So its actually the world thats built, its the idea that the rest of the world is going through this exact same experience. Are there other people that have to survive like this? Its that idea of living through the set of circumstances, not again in the same way obviously, but exploring it more. You only got to do it intimately for a small amount of time, so what happens next?"

To find out what happens next, you can catch A Quiet Place: Part 2 when it arrives in theaters on Friday, March 20.

Miley Cyrus’ 2020 Instagram Video Recounts Everything She’s Done Since 2010

If the last decade of Miley Cyrus' career proves anything, it's that life is all about the climb. Over the course of the past 10 years, Cyrus shed her Hannah Montana persona for good, released four albums, got engaged, got married, got divorced, debuted at least a dozen different beauty looks, and grew stronger through it all. Need a refresher of all that went down? You're in luck. Miley Cyrus' 2020 Instagram video which she posted on New Year's Day and titled Miley Cyrus Decade Video: 10 Years in 10 Minutes reflects on all the highs and lows of her last 10 years, and wow, it's been a journey.

Rather than directly addressing her fans, Cyrus uses the video to review her life-changing decade through the eyes of the media. The film opens with the scene from Hannah Montana: The Movie of Cyrus removing her iconic blonde wig, and then it quickly transitions to a scene from The Last Song, where Cyrus met her future boo, Liam Hemsworth, on set. There's no denying Hemsworth played a major role in Cyrus' life from the ages of 17 to 27, and as a result, Hemsworth plays a major role in Cyrus' decade-in-review video as well.

Miley Cyrus on YouTube

In between clips from her Can't Be Tamed era, her Bangerz days, her Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Pets phase, and her Younger Now period, the video tracks the progression of Cyrus and Hemsworth's relationship. A minute into the video, Cyrus includes a magazine cover from June 2012 announcing their engagement. A little less than two minutes into the video, viewers see news clips discussing their September 2013 breakup.

Though the video doesn't mention their January 2016 reconciliation, Cyrus does include an Entertainment Tonight clip announcing their December 2018 wedding about eight minutes in. And of course, a little over a minute later, she touches on the news of their eventual separation in August 2019. (Warning: If you don't want to ugly cry, skip through 9:12 to 9:18 in the video. Just trust me.)

The video doesn't include any mention of her relationship with Kaitlynn Carter or her current boo Cody Simpson following her split from Hemsworth, though Simpson and Cyrus have seemingly shut down those recent cheating rumors. Instead, she ends the video with a closeup of her face and the words, "New Era Starts Now," no doubt alluding to her upcoming seventh studio album, She Is Miley Cyrus.

This past decade hasn't been all smooth sailing for the singer, but she can't stop and she can't be tamed, and I can't wait to see what this new era brings.

How Powerful Is Ciri In 'The Witcher'? Season 2 Could Hinge On It

$
0
0

The Witcher had a delicate needle to thread when it came to adapting the series, with three entirely different fanbases to please at once. There were the short story enthusiasts, who wanted every episode to be Geralt, Monster Hunter Mutant. There were the fans of the novels, for whom Yennefer and Ciri's stories were just as crucial as anything Geralt did. And there were the video gamers, who expected extensive Witcher vs. Monster action. In balancing these stories, the show has left a critical question unanswered: How powerful is Ciri in The Witcher?

Warning: Spoilers for Netflix's The Witcher follow.

So far, viewers haven't gotten to see Ciri do very much, other than roar. Her ability is why she's called "the Lion Cub of Cintra," though she doesn't know it. It only happens when she emotionally loses control, like when Calanthe sends her away, and she screams at the thought of losing her home and family. Or when Cahir nearly captures her, and she starts screaming in absolute terror, ripping the Earth apart.

But there are other signs as well. Ciri isn't affected by the waters of the Brokilon forest, a place that called out to her. And in Episode 7, when under attack, she instead falls into a trance-like state, and prophecy flows from her lips, terrifying those who would mean her harm.

What audiences who haven't read the books don't realize is this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Warning: Spoilers for The Witcher novels follow.

Ciri isn't powerful the way, say, Yennefer is. Yennefer is a mage, someone who can be taught to touch and control magic. As the first full-length Witcher novel, Blood of Elves, reveals, Ciri is a Source. Think of it as the next level up, someone who naturally channels magic, like you or I breathe air.

This means getting her into training is imperative. Unlike Yennefer, who could have been left on her farm, occasionally disappearing when necessary, Ciri must be taught to handle magic, or else it could kill her.

Ciri's power is the reason why the series chose to interweave the different timelines together. If Ciri were not so powerful, it wouldn't be a big deal to have a more direct adaptation. Season 1 could have focused on Geralt going from kingdom to kingdom, slaughtering a monster or five, bedding Yennefer once in a while, and maybe having a run-in with Queen Calanthe over a law of surprise.

But, as showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich pointed out on Twitter, to have the show focus solely on Geralt and then suddenly, in Season 2, introduce Ciri and explain she's the key to everything, would have caused viewer whiplash.

The scene where Ciri began spouting prophecy showed her abilities are already getting stronger. Geralt's going to need to find someone to train her come Season 2, and soon.

A new year means a fresh start for lots of people, including some of the world's biggest stars. Khlo Kardashian posted on Instagram for New Year's 2020, and she made it clear that she's ready to move on from the year that was. In her heartfelt caption, Khlo said she's "happily saying goodbye" to 2019, but not before reflecting with some family photos.

On New Year's Day, Khlo posted a 5-minute slideshow video set to Desrees 1996 hit song Im Kissing You." The slideshow is packed with photos from Khlo's life, especially ones of her 20-month-old daughter True. Other members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan also make an appearance, including her siblings Kim Kardashian West, Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Rob Kardashian; her mom Kris Jenner; and all her many nieces and nephews. Khlo's ex and True's father Tristan Thompson also makes an appearance in the slideshow in a never-before-seen photo from the Kardashian Christmas party.

Khlo seems to find value in reflecting on her past year. In her caption, she wrote, "They tell you that you shouldnt look back but Im going to suggest that you do. Be brave, look back and reflect on your past year; Or the past decade! Its OK to remind yourself of what you went through and what you overcame."

It's safe to say that 2019 had its fair share of ups and downs for Khlo. She and Tristan had quite a bit of drama during their breakup, and she posted in her Instagram story that she was determined to go into the new year with "less stress." Khlo also wrote in her story, "2019 is almost over and all I gotta say is what the hell was that."

But even with the hardships of the past year, Khlo had a positive message to share on her New Year's 2020 Instagram post. She wrote:

We may not be able to control what happens to us but we can control how we react to it. We must remember that all things are powerless unless we give them power. So let that power be empathy, understanding, kindness, grace, love and respect. Remember that God has and always will have your back. Have faith that life will get better as long as we believe in ourselves. We must internally feel grateful for everything and strive to become better people daily.

She went on to say:

Remind yourself how incredible your life is. How youre still standing, thriving, smiling. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that what we take with us, is so much greater than what we left behind.I am choosing to only take with me the happiest of times! As I made this video of the past year; I cant help but smile! True you are my entire heart! My happy place! My Forever and always! I love you!

Khlo ended the post with some words of encouragement to her followers: "I pray you leave everything that does not serve you purpose, happiness, peace, love and health back in 2019." That sounds like the kind of energy everyone should be bringing into the new year.

Zoë Kravitz's 'Big Little Lies' Reunion Photo From Her Wedding Will Melt Your Heart

I know I'm not the only one still mourning the end of Big Little Lies Season 2, and though I'm still waiting for a Season 3 announcement, Zo Kravitz just gave fans the next best thing. On New Year's Eve 2019, the actor took to Instagram to share some never-before-seen photos from her June wedding with Karl Glusman, and one of those beauteous pics includes a snapshot of the Monterey Five. I'm pretty sure the only thing that could make Zo Kravitz's Big Little Lies reunion photo from her wedding even better would be the inclusion of Meryl Streep, but whatever. It's still pretty awesome.

Kravitz is positioned in the center of the black-and-white shot (which is the first in a series of photos, meaning it's the most important one, obvi). Surrounding her are her BLL costars Shailene Woodley, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, and Laura Dern, who are seen embracing the bride in an adorable group hug. Dern commented, "The most special day," and Witherspoon added, "Top moment of 2019!" The women may have their differences onscreen, but if this pic proves anything, it's that the ladies of Monterey have nothing but love for one another when the cameras aren't rolling. Check out the photo for yourself on Kravitz's Instagram.

During a September 2018 conversation with Reese Witherspoon, which was published in Harper's Bazaar, Kravitz gushed about her relationship with her BLL family. "Our crew right now, on Big Little Lies, is great," she said. "There are so many women on our set it's so cool. I feel a different kind of energy, this feminine energy."

Kravitz has also spoke about the support her cast members have given her over the years. During an InStyle interview published a month before her wedding, Kravitz said, "I have amazing people in my life who support me my friends, my family, my fianc, and all the women on Big Little Lies, They have my back, and I know if I was doing some weird, crazy sh*t, someone would set me straight. They help whenever I have a moment of panic and confusion, which happens quite often."

The Monterey Five are total friendship goals, and it warms my heart to know that even if we never see BLL Season 3 these ladies will likely remain friends for life.

This Explanation Of 'The Witcher' Timelines Clears Everything Up

Unlike Game of Thrones, Outlander, and other adaptations of fantasy novels from the 1990s and 2000s, The Witcher presented a unique problem. Created initially as short stories that morphed first into long-form door-stopper-sized books and then video games, it had three different fan bases that needed to be satisfied. Moreover, Netflix was looking for the next Game of Thrones, so the show needed to present a sprawling narrative across continents. But showrunner Lauren Hissrich went one better and made one that sprawled across a century. Her explanation of The Witcher timelines helps clear up why the show took this tactic.

The clues are all there from the first episode. About a third of the way through the premiere, when Calanthe admonishes 12-year-old Ciri's talk of war, she responds that her grandmother won her first battle "when you were my age." In the very next scene, Renfri defends her plans of revenge to Geralt. It was unfair, she says, to be locked away in a tower by an evil sorcerer. A princess like herself should have done great things: "Look at Calanthe; she just won her first battle."

But these clues might slide by, at least at first. That's doubly true for book readers because none of the stories are structured this way.

But in speaking to The Wrap, Hissrich says she believed the restructuring would help set up the story for viewers.

What was important to me is starting off and making sure that we understood who Geralt was and who Ciri was, and then, in Episode 2, who Yennefer was. And one of our early decisions we made was actually just to introduce Geralt and Ciri in Episode 1 and to hold Yennefer for Episode 2 for that exact reason. Theres only so much you can take in.

Hissrich also said she kept the early hints of the different timelines subtle because she felt viewers were "thrown into the deep end already with all the characters and all the places." The timelines would reveal themselves when viewers were ready to notice.

To me, it becomes really evident, obviously, by Episode 4... where Queen Calanthe who we see kill herself in Episode 1 is younger and back to life in Episode 4. And hopefully, god, if I was watching this, I would want to go back to the beginning and see how theyve been telling me this from the beginning. And I hope people will go back and rewatch and see what other little Easter eggs are planted in there.

As for Season 2, things should get a little more linear. Geralt and Ciri have now met up, and the story of her training, which dominates the book Blood of Elves, should take center stage. As for Yennefer, she's disappeared, but actress Anya Chalotra will be back. It remains to be seen how, or, well, when she returns.

Beyoncé’s 2019 Recap Video Includes Adorable New Photos Of Her Kids

Beyonc is the queen of dropping incredible surprises for her fans, and she decided to start off 2020 with a pretty epic one. On New Year's Eve, Queen Bey took to Instagram to share a special video recounting her fave memories from the past year. From being honored at the NAACP Image Awards to breathing new life into The Lion King, the singer has, unsurprisingly, had an impressive 2019. But the best part of Beyonc's 2019 recap video might just be all the adorable family photos shared of her and Jay-Z with their brood of three: Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir Carter.

The montage (which she captioned "2019 Bey-Cap!!") is just over a minute-and-a-half long, but Beyonc includes so many pics that you'll want to watch it two or three (or 100...) times in order to catch them all. Some family-filled highlights include Blue Ivy's seventh birthday party in January, Netflix's Homecoming screening in April, Rumi and Sir's second birthday celebrations in June, and the family's holiday card photoshoot towards the end of the year. My personal fave: a shot from a family vacation, with Queen Bey and her three kiddies dressed in matching bathing suits. Oh, they grow up so fast!

As much as the singer loves her Beyhive, Beyonc's top priority will always be her family of five. She's also pretty tight-lipped about her personal life, so when we get a glimpse behind the scenes, it's a rare and wonderful occurrence. During a rare TV interview with Good Morning America in July while promoting The Lion King, Beyonc opened up about the importance of family. "Being a mother, my family is my biggest priority," she said.

A few months later, twins Rumi and Sir made their TV debut in their famous mom's documentary, Beyonc Presents: Making The Gift, which also included their big sis Blue Ivy. The video gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of every track on Beyonc's recent companion album for The Lion King, as well as some sweet scenes featuring Bey and Jay with their kids. At one point in the video, Beyonc says, "When you're a mother, there is a love you experience with your kids that is deeper than anything you can imagine." My heart!

Here's hoping that 2020 brings Beyonc and her fam even more sweet moments like these. Also, if anyone knows where I can get a bathing suit to match Beyonc's, LMK.

When Disney+ dropped last November, it brought with it a treasure trove of classic Disney titles. But, one Disney Channel favorite was noticeably missing until now. Finally, as of Jan. 1, 2020, The Proud Family is on Disney+ and fans couldn't be more pumped. In fact, these tweets about The Proud Family on Disney+ show just how much people are celebrating with their favorite cartoon family.

Just in case you weren't a Disney Channel kid in the early 2000s, here's a brief refresher. The Proud Family was an animated series on Disney Channel that ran from 2001 to 2005. It follows the life of Penny Proud, a teenager making her way through life alongside her eccentric family and friends. The cast of characters includes her dad Oscar, her mom Trudy, her friends Dijonay and Zoey, and her iconic grandma Suga Mama. The Proud Family is one of the few animated kids shows to feature a black family, and so it was especially beloved for adding some much-needed diversity to the TV lineup. Plus, the way the show handled real-life issues with a lot of humor made it a fan-favorite. Fans are still loving The Proud Family, and they've taken to Twitter to celebrate the fact that Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Disney+.

A lot of fans are especially excited to once again get to experience The Proud Family theme song, which is undeniably a bop. Disney+, like a lot of streaming services, offers viewers the chance to skip over the theme song of a show. But true Proud Family fans are making sure they savor each and every second of the Destiny's Child-sung intro.

Seasons 1 and 2 of The Proud Family have arrived on Disney+ just in time. According to Deadline Disney is going to be producing new episodes of The Proud Family for Disney+. That means that fans can catch up on all the old episodes now just in time to get reintroduced to the Prouds in a rebooted series.

You can stream The Proud Family and a whole bunch of other Disney classics on Disney+ now.

Kristine Froseth Does Not Disappoint

Kristine Froseth shows up to the Elite Daily office alone. An actor arriving for a photoshoot without at least one publicist or assistant on hand is so unheard of that I second-guess whether the 5-foot-7-inch blonde, wearing a shimmery, purple turtleneck and purple flares to match, is in fact the Looking for Alaska star. But it is Froseth, the 23-year-old whos been racking up roles in some of the buzziest projects on streaming TV.

The nonchalant way Froseth travels is a product of her Norwegian upbringing, she says. She bounced between Norway and the United States throughout her childhood, and was struck by the discovery that the other kids she knew in New Jersey had controlling helicopter parents.

I vividly remember how much freedom you have as a kid in Norway, and how independent you are compared to [kids in the U.S.], she tells me. I would always just roam around by myself.

Froseth moves around the set unselfconsciously and, when Arizona Zervas Roxanne plays, breaks into a groovy dance. Are you a model? someone asks, and she laughs. Yes, Froseth is a model. Or she was, before she switched to acting full-time. As a teenager, she was scouted at a mall in Oslo, Norway, and she moved to New York a few months later. She landed gigs with major brands like H&M and Armani, but by 2015, she decided to focus mainly on acting.

She yearned for a creative outlet, which she wasn't finding on modeling jobs. There was a lot of creative energy around me, but I wasnt necessarily able to be a part of that as much as I am now. Now, I can be a part of building a character, Froseth says. When youre on set and so present with each other and whoever youre working with, and you sort of get swept away thats so magical to me.

Thats not to say that her transition from modeling to acting was smooth. Shes terrified of disappointing her audience, which she says made her feel especially connected to Alaska Young, the character she plays in Hulus adaptation of John Greens first novel, Looking for Alaska, and Veronica, her character in the Netflix film Sierra Burgess Is a Loser.

[Neither of the characters] trust themselves enough to be who they really are, so they keep up this very consistent front to protect themselves, because if people want to judge them, then theyll judge that. They wont actually judge them, she explains. Having moved around so much as a kid, Froseth says she understood why the characters she played would want to put up walls. And its hard to blame Froseth for keeping her own guard up. Looking for Alaska, which centers around a mysterious death at a boarding school, may not be as well-known as Greens other books, The Fault in Our Stars or Paper Towns, but as his first, it has a particularly passionate cult following. News that the novel would become a streaming show was immediately followed by a barrage of chatter from fans. They were very vocal about who they wanted Alaska to be... and what energy she was supposed to [have], Froseth says.

I dont want to disappoint them. I just want to do it justice, because I love it so much.

The stars of previous Green adaptations came to the projects with name recognition and a built-in fan base. Shailene Woodley already had a following from her roles in The Secret Life of an American Teenager and Divergent when she was cast in The Fault in Our Stars. Cara Delevingne may not have had many acting roles before starring in Paper Towns, but she was a longtime Victorias Secret model and a member of Taylor Swifts girl squad. When it came to Looking for Alaska, the fandom floated names like Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner), Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars), and Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). Froseth was not on the shortlist.

Froseths own love for the novel made it all the more painful when fans didnt want her to play Alaska. I remember being super stuck in that mindset, she says. Like, This is who shes supposed to be, this is what the fans are saying she is. I dont want to disappoint them. I just want to do it justice, because I love it so much. Fans kept making their thoughts known in the comments when the trailer for the series dropped on YouTube, and she was so nervous about them being so disappointed about what I had done.

Still, Froseth is accustomed to proving herself. On past film projects, she's had to prove she's capable of more than her modeling background. I dont know why people were negative about me having been a model before, but when Id come to set there was a lot of, Well, show us that you can do this, like, Keep up. The scrutiny drove her to be as prepared as I could be on set. You really cant control what people are going to think anyhow, she says.

Its a constant fight. Im trying to make it my friend ... I think its going to be a part of me for quite some time.

So when Froseth posted an Instagram with the caption, We are so much more than our darkness ever wants us to be. Lets [sic] never give up, I assumed it was an admonition to her haters. It turns out that she was speaking to something much darker; when I ask her about it, she reveals shes been dealing with depression for the last three years.

I think [depression] really got the better of me. It still does, to some degree, she shares. Its a constant fight. Im trying to make it my friend ... I think its going to be a part of me for quite some time.

Over the years, Froseths learned how to cope with particularly bad days. It takes me a minute and I have to ride the wave first. Then, I like to journal and do something creative with it, she says. But I also always reach out to my friends now. I used to be so isolated about it, but, now, knowing they know where I am and just having that [support] has been a game-changer.

That support system helps her through low moments, and allows her to better appreciate her good days. [Depression is] something that we can struggle with and have, but its not me, she says. So having that and knowing that theres so much light in between those moments, is so beautiful and worth it all.

Froseth is determined not to listen to doubt whether from an outspoken fandom, casting directors, or even herself. I dont like to give in to that energy because I think its wasted, she says. That resolve has served her well. Froseth says the reaction from Greens following to her portrayal of Alaska ended up being so positive. The show got a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was lauded by critics for improving on the source material, which is a rarity for the YA genre.

2020 is set to be another banner year for Froseth. She has a role in the upcoming indie film The Assistant and will appear in the second season of Netflixs The Society. Shes currently living in Brooklyn and says shes training for a hush-hush new project. Shes effusive about the actors shes drawing inspiration from as she looks forward to future roles: Marion Cotillard, Meryl Streep, and Olivia Colman. [Theyre all] down to mess up and theyre down to be vulnerable, she says. Theres so much power in that and I think they convey truth in such a beautiful way I really look up to.

I ask Froseth if she thinks shes reached a point where shes down to mess up, or if shes still reaching. Yeah, she says. Shes still reaching, but its hard. Shes right. It is hard to break down the walls one builds to protect themselves, especially in an industry as cutthroat as Hollywood. But now that shes won over the fans she was so afraid to disappoint, she can start to chip away at those walls, clearing the way for the messy, vulnerable version of herself to shine through.

Beyoncé & Blue Ivy's New Year's Instagram Will Make You Do A Double Take

Beyonc just took her "cool mom" superstar persona to the next level. While most moms were probably spending New Year's Eve falling asleep before midnight, Beyonc took her daughter Blue Ivy to hang with one of the coolest rappers of the moment. Beyonc and Blue Ivy's 2020 New Year's Instagram with Meg Thee Stallion is so, so epic.

The post was shared on Meg Thee Stallion's Instagram page and showed all three ladies looking like the fierce queens they are. In one photo, they showed off their silly side. Then, in the next, they flashed beaming smiles and kissy faces. TBH, Blue's gap-filled smile after losing a slew of teeth recently is the most adorable thing ever.

If you turned on the radio at all in 2019 like, even once you've probably heard Meg's viral smash "Hot Girl Summer." The chart-topping track dominated radio for much of the year, so the Knowles family closed out 2019 in such a fitting way.

The most notable thing of all, though, was how much Bey and her daughter looked like total twins. Seriously, these two are looking more and more alike with each passing day.

"Happy 2020," Meg captioned the celebratory photo.

Blue did kind of steal the show in the post, though, and fans took notice.

"BLUE IVY IS A PRESENCE. Shes the actually energy force that brought this image together and we owe her. The real Supreme," one person wrote in the comments.

The photos arrived after Queen Bey shared a year in review post of her own, which included plenty of adorable photos of her three kids with JAY-Z. The montage, which she captioned, "2019 Bey-Cap!!" included some pretty epic highlights.

Some of the most notable moments included Blue Ivy's seventh birthday party in January, Netflix's Homecoming screening in April, Diana Ross' birthday party, Rumi and Sir's second birthday celebrations in June, and the family's 2019 holiday photoshoot. Just a few ~casual~ family memories, you know.

One thing's for sure: Beyonc is the coolest mom in Hollywood, and for seven-year-old Blue to kick it with Hot Girl Meg to close out the year, well, that's nothing short of epic.

Olympic Surfer Caroline Marks Just Wants You To Take Surfing Seriously — EXCLUSIVE

For the first time ever, get ready to catch some waves at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Surfer Caroline Marks sure is. The 17-year-old will be part of the upcoming and first-ever Olympic surfing team in the sport's debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. And though the games are still half a year away, the teen athlete is already thinking big-picture. "[Having surfing at] the Olympics is going to touch such a bigger audience," Marks tells Elite Daily. "Thats what I hope. That it brings a lot more attention to the sport."

Back in 2016, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved five new sports for the 2020 Olympics, with an eye to appealing to younger people. Included in the upcoming games are skateboarding, baseball/softball, karate, sport climbing, and of course surfing. The sports were intended to acknowledge the increasing urbanization of sports, as well as include sports that appeal specifically to younger athletes. For Marks, who at 17 is the youngest athlete to qualify on the Olympic surfing team, it's a chance to prove to the world that, yeah, surfing is a real sport, stereotypes and Point Break be damned.

"I feel like a lot of people think surfers, our stereotype is kind of like, cruising, smoke weed, sleep in, not really train that hard," Marks says. "Thats totally the opposite of what surfing is, actually. We all get up early, we all train super hard, we all eat healthy." She says she and the surfers she knows work with trainers and other professionals, and they deserve the respect their hard work has earned. She hopes the Olympics will bring that. "I think now that its at the Olympics, people might take [surfing] a lot more serious," she says. "We are high-level athletes, and I think people will look at us more like that instead of the cruisy, surfer [stereo]type."

Marks, who lists her hometown as Melbourne Beach, Florida, has been surfing most of her life. At age 8, she started surfing with her brothers and never stopped. At just 15, she made history as the youngest person ever to qualify for the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour, and earlier in 2019 won the Boost Mobile Pro Gold Coast trophy. But she never expected to be heading for the Olympics. "All I wanted to do was win world titles, 'cause I didnt really think of surfing to be in the Olympics," she says. "Now, surfing in the Olympics, its like, oh my god. Thats such a bigger platform." On Dec. 1, 2019, she beat out the competition to land one of only two women's spots on the upcoming Olympic surfing team. She'll join Team USA surfers Carissa Moore, John John Florence, and Kolohe Andino in Tokyo this summer. "Its crazy how fast all of it happened," Marks says.

No matter what happens at the Games, Marks will always know she was one of the first to represent her country in surfing. "[It's] something that no one can ever take away from me, and its going to go down in history," she says. "I can tell my kids one day, they can tell their kids. Its pretty cool."

It's unsurprising she's thinking about the next generation of potential surfers. As a partner with American Girl, Marks helped with the launch of the 2020 Girl of the Year doll, named Joss Kendrick a surfer, just like her. Marks says it's "super rad" to hear, and to share, a story that feels so relatable. "This is my chance to show girls its possible to achieve your goals, no matter how high they may be," she says. Joss, who uses a hearing aid, is also the first-ever doll who has her disability as part of her story.

Being the youngest woman to qualify for the Olympic team means Marks is super aware of how others may view her. "I think a few people definitely doubted me, like Oh, shes too young, she still has to finish school. All these things," she says. "For me its like, dont ever let anyone tell you you cant."

As far as the sport's come, there's still a long way to go. But Marks thinks it's on the right track. In April 2019, she was the first woman ever to win equal prize money to her male counterparts from the WSL. "I think its all moving in the right direction," she says. "As far as equal pay with men and women as a female, I think weve been taken a lot more serious." Between the equal pay news and the Olympics, she thinks women athletes are getting more recognition than they used to. "People are tuning in to watch girls, [and] it used to be people would tune in just to watch the guys," she says. "Once the Olympics does happen, people will take us even more serious[ly] because theyll realize how hard we work."

In the meantime? Marks is here to remind girls they should be taken seriously. "If you're passionate and willing to work hard for [your dreams], you can achieve anything," she says. "Dream big. You only live one life."
